WHY

COLUMBIA

You’ve heard the call. We’re listening too.
You’ve heard the call.
We’re listening too.

The world is changing. That’s good news and we’re embracing it. Faith, community, and service – everything is being reimagined, reconsidered, and redefined.

The world is changing. That’s good news and we’re embracing it. Faith, community and service – everything is being reimagined, reconsidered and redefined.

We invite you on a transformative journey: one which places hope above fear, love over hate, and joy beyond despair. We invite you to imagine what could be and to shape the not yet.

Engaging Faculty

World-class scholars.
Wise mentors.
Experienced practitioners.
Leaders in their fields.

Our faculty is deeply immersed in the lives of our students, drawing from their rich diversity of backgrounds and experiences to teach both within and beyond the classroom.

Diversity

Students come to Columbia from around the world.

Each brings a culture and tradition that together animates our common life. No matter your background or identity, you are likely to encounter people who are like you, and others who are completely different. Our community reflects the world we live in and helps us expand our view of God and humanity.

Community

Most of our students and faculty live and learn on campus together, so this is a place where community emerges organically.

We gather for worship multiple times each week. Our Office of Student Formation and Campus Culture creates opportunities for students, staff, and faculty to connect. Lingering conversations blossom into long-lasting friendships that will ground and sustain you throughout your career.

Campus & Location

Campus &
Location

Ours is a beautiful, tree-filled campus with generous spaces for work, study, living, and play.

We are located in the heart of Decatur: a thriving cultural and culinary hub just minutes from the world-class City of Atlanta. With historic congregations, new worshipping communities, and innovative nonprofits doing amazing work, your opportunities for real-world learning and growth extend far beyond the classroom. These are remarkable surroundings for your seminary journey.

Academic Excellence

At its best, seminary serves as a laboratory for research, learning, experimentation and growth.

Gifted faculty and a rich supply of academic resources, including the John Bulow Campbell Library and Center for Academic Literacy, provide all you need to thrive academically.

Formation & Preparation

Formation &
Preparation

Learning inside the classroom is important, but real impact is made out in the world.

Columbia’s curriculum is designed to help you grow in both knowledge and skill, opening a wide variety of vocational pathways to you after graduation. Whether within or beyond the church, you will be prepared to use your education, gifts and passions to make a tangible difference.

CONNECT

WITH US

We invite you to explore how your passions intersect with what is happening here. The best way to get to know Columbia is to connect with the people who call it home. The Columbia admissions team is eager to partner with you as you discern your way to seminary. We would also love to host you on a campus visit, schedule a virtual conversation, or help you navigate the admissions process.

Speak with Admissions Staff

There are so many practical questions you might want to ask: about the application process, about student life, about on-campus housing. And of course, there are deeper questions too. We can guide you through this process.

Visit Campus

Seeing our campus first-hand can help you envision all of the possibilities here. We host campus visitors from September through May of each year. Prospective students can attend class, participate in community worship, and share lunch with faculty and students. Overnight accommodations are available for out-of-town guests as needed.

Campus visits and other in-person events have resumed, but participants are asked to take appropriate precautions to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Please see Columbia’s COVID Advisories and Resources page for additional information.
